Glebe House

Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a stay at Glebe House? Here are answers to some of the questions guests ask most often. If there is anything else you would like to know, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.

Planning your stay

How many guests can Glebe House accommodate?

Glebe House comfortably sleeps eight guests across four bedrooms. Two additional pocket sprung single guest beds are available by prior arrangement for £20 per bed, per night, taking the maximum capacity to ten.

The additional beds are slightly shorter and narrower than full size single beds, so they are ideal for children and can also suit a smaller adult.

How are the bedrooms arranged?

There is a king size bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, a double bedroom and two flexible bedrooms that can each be arranged as either a super king or two full size single beds. One of the flexible bedrooms also has an ensuite bathroom.

We will email you around ten days before your stay to ask how you would like the flexible bedrooms arranged. You are also welcome to tell us earlier if you already know your preferred setup.

Is Glebe House suitable for guests attending a local wedding?

Yes. Glebe House is a welcoming base for families and friends attending weddings near Salisbury and in the surrounding Wiltshire countryside. The house comfortably sleeps eight guests across four bedrooms, with space for up to ten by prior arrangement.

West Barn Lodge and The Stalls at Strang Manor Farm are approximately an 8 to 10 minute drive away, and Bowerchalke Barn is around 15 to 20 minutes away.

See our Wedding Stays page for venue distances, bedroom arrangements and advice on planning your transport.

Can we book a two night weekend stay?

Our standard weekend booking is for three nights. You are very welcome to stay for only two nights, but the booking and price will remain for the full three night stay.

Can we arrive early or leave later?

Standard check-in is after 4 pm. If an earlier arrival or later departure would help with your plans, you are very welcome to ask.

Both depend on the bookings either side of your stay and the time needed to prepare the house, so please plan around the standard times unless we have confirmed another arrangement.

A charge may apply, depending on the extra time requested, and we will confirm any cost before you agree. When the schedule allows, we may be able to offer a little extra time at no additional charge.

Where can we park?

There is space for two guest cars in the private car park opposite Glebe House. A third car may park on the paving immediately outside the house.

If your group plans to bring more than three cars, please contact us before your stay. The lane is used by farm vehicles and must be kept clear.

Can we arrange a supermarket delivery?

Yes. Supermarket deliveries are welcome after you have checked in and are at the house to receive them. Unfortunately, we cannot accept deliveries before your arrival.

At Glebe House

Are children welcome?

Yes. Glebe House works particularly well for families, including two families staying together. The house has generous shared spaces, flexible bedroom arrangements and an enclosed garden with room for children to play.

Are dogs welcome?

Yes. Well behaved dogs are welcome at £25 per pet, per stay. Please mention any dogs when booking so that the correct charge and arrangements can be included.

What is provided at the house?

Bed linen and towels are provided, with one bath towel for each guest and one hand towel in each bathroom.

Tea and coffee are provided, and the De’Longhi bean to cup coffee machine will be filled ready for your arrival. If you are enthusiastic coffee drinkers, you may wish to bring some additional beans.

We also usually keep olive oil, salt, pepper, foil, cling film and baking parchment in the kitchen. These are useful everyday supplies rather than guaranteed provisions. Milk is not currently provided.

Are logs provided for the log burner?

Yes. We leave a starter basket of logs and kindling for your arrival. If you would like to use the fire regularly during your stay, please bring or buy additional logs.

Can we celebrate a birthday or special occasion at Glebe House?

Relaxed birthdays, family celebrations and gatherings with friends are very welcome. Glebe House is not suitable for parties.

Normal conversation and music are absolutely fine, but we ask guests to be considerate of our neighbours. Loud music, heavy bass and shouting outside should be avoided, with music turned down or off before 10 pm.

Can you recommend someone to cater at the house?

Yes. We have local recommendations and would be happy to share them if you are interested in arranging a private chef or catered meal during your stay.

Exploring the area

Can we bring bicycles?

Yes. Bicycles can be stored in the closed but unlocked garage. Please bring your own bicycle locks.

Guests can cycle in Grovely Woods, where there are numerous bridleways and tracks. Grovely Lane is also a quiet dead end lane that can work well for a family ride, although it is occasionally used by farm vehicles and visitors’ cars.

Do we need a car?

We recommend having a car if you want to explore Wiltshire and make the most of the many places to visit nearby.

However, it is possible to enjoy a slower stay without one. There are countryside walks directly from the house, as well as a village shop and pub within walking distance. A bus route also runs through the village.

Please see our Getting Here page for directions and transport information.

What is there to do nearby?

Glebe House is well placed for exploring Salisbury, Stonehenge, Longleat, Stourhead, Paultons Park and the New Forest, as well as the surrounding Wiltshire countryside.

Explore our Days Out, Local Favourites and What’s On pages for our personal recommendations and ideas for planning your stay.
